2015 Brodies Strong & Weak Doubles Table Tennis Tournament

BELIZE CITY, Tue. July 28, 2015–The 2015 Brodies Annual Strong & Weak Doubles Tournament took place this past Sunday, July 26, at the BES Auditorium, the home of table tennis.

Following a Double Elimination format, 16 Strong & Weak Doubles teams began competing for this year’s title. Last year’s winners Billy Musa, Jr. & Samron Pott came into this event as the top seed. Petie Matus & Marion Usher, last year’s other finalist, did not play this year, leaving the second seed position open to Carlos Cui & Terry Su.

In the Upper portion of the draw, Mishek Musa & Fabio Carballo made it to the semifinals by beating out Alain Gonzalez & Kareem Stewart, Taye Parkinson & Jayden Sutherland, and Billy Musa & Samron Pott, before losing to Carlos Cui & Terry Su.

Eventual Champions Carlos Cui & Terry Su made it to the finals by defeating Asyel Lopez & Kevin Singh, Latrell Solis & Jaylen Nicholson, Zhi Chen & Sui Pan Chen, and Fabio Carballo & Mishek Musa.

After losing to Carlos Cui & Terry Su, Zhi Chen & Sui Pan Chen rebounded in the loser’s bracket and made it to the finals by then defeating Hector Lopez & Wilfredo Chang, Billy Musa & Samron Pott, and Fabio Carballo & Mishek Musa. In the finals against Carlos Cui and Terry Su, they played an intense match down to the wire, but lost 2 games to 3.

Fabio & Mishek took 3rd place, and last year’s champions Billy Musa, Jr. & Samron Pott finished fourth.
