Fabian Martinez dies almost a week after motorcycle accident

GeneralFabian Martinez dies almost a week after motorcycle accident

A man is dead one week after a vehicle crashed into him at the junction of the Fresh Pond and the Boom Hattieville Roads, while he was travelling on a motorcycle, at about 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12.

Fabian Martinez, a Ladyville resident, died at about 12.35 a.m. Monday, October 21, at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he had been fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit.

Police reports are that Martinez was travelling on a motorcycle from Ladyville to Fresh Pond when, upon reaching the Fresh Pond junction with the Boom Hattieville Road, an SUV hit him, causing him to receive massive head and body injuries.

The driver of the SUV told police that he crashed into the motorcycle because the driver turned right without indicating.

However, police who went to the scene saw that the indicator was still blinking when the motorcycle was lifted up from the ground where it landed.

The SUV driver said that he was travelling about 35 miles per hour at the time he collided with the motorcycle. However, Martinez’s family believe that there was speed involved, and that after he was slammed and landed on the road, the vehicle rolled over him, because of the extent of the injuries they noted.
