“Ah jus stab up mi gial …”

General“Ah jus stab up mi gial …”
A night of transvestite drama and partying ended fatally for a very young Corozal woman, described by her friends as fun-loving and friendly, but grappling with a tumultuous common-law union in which both parties were allegedly jealous of each other.

“Ah jus stab up mi gial and kill ah…” James Jackson, 37, dressed only in his boxers, told police, to whom he handed over a broken knife stained with blood.

Corozal police were summoned in the wee hours of Sunday, May 30, 2010, to Jackson’s home, situated at the corner of 3rd Street North and 6th Avenue in Corozal Town.

“Upon entering the house the motionless body of a female was observed lying on the floor in a pool of blood in the kitchen section of the house. The body was identified as Elena Estela Amador, 21-year-old domestic…” said police, who arrived on the scene at about 3:05 a.m. and met Jackson scantily clad outside his house.

Like her other relatives, Amador’s aunt, Mrs. Agustina Orosco, has no answers to explain what happened Sunday morning. She claimed that they had never heard of Jackson being abusive in the couple’s three years of living together. In addition, Amador had never complained of any verbal or physical abuse, and for this reason, they really believed that they were a happy couple.

Besides, Jackson did not appear to be a violent man; neither did he appear to have any bad habits. He seemed, instead, to be a family man, she said. Orosco now realizes her niece, Amador, was suffering in silence.

On Saturday morning, May 29, Jackson headed off to work and was supposed to return at around 6:00 p.m. When he returned home, he couldn’t find Amador. She had already gone to a transvestite show, accompanied by three female friends.

Orosco says that her niece was a happy person. She denies that Amador was a lesbian or kept lesbian friends, as some have been claiming.

Another relative has gone on record to tell the media the relationship between her cousin and Jackson had indeed been troubled, due to jealousy.

On the night of the murder, Amador had reportedly refused to go home with her common-law husband at his request. Later that night, her uncle heard her screams, but Amador did not shout out to her uncle for help, as was customary. It was only Jackson’s voice that the uncle heard afterwards.

Amador’s cousin says that the now deceased beauty wanted to leave Jackson, who, she claims, had repeatedly accused her of infidelity.

Amador’s body was transported to the Corozal Hospital and now awaits a post-mortem.

We were told by Amador’s family that this morning, a regretful and apologetic Jackson was arraigned in the Corozal Magistrate’s Court on a murder charge.

He was remanded to prison and is expected to reappear in court on July 1, 2010.
