Arthur Saldivar “owes the dead an apology”

LettersArthur Saldivar “owes the dead an apology”
Dear Editor,

I was working out of town when I got a call to tell me, “read the Amanadala!”  I read and couldn’t believe that Senator Arthur Saldivar would use the Senate meeting to launch an assassination of Nicholas Pollard, Jr., and Nicholas Pollard, Sr.

I thought that was only in the days of the Romans when Brutus, et al, did Caesar in. And what a “sarcasm” to say that “some very prominent ‘poor’ people in this country appeared on the list, namely Nicholas Pollard, Jr., and Sr…”

Doesn’t Saldivar know that Nicholas Pollard, Sr., is no longer prominent? Man, he died on January 21st, 2003 – nine years ago! He [Saldivar] owes the dead an apology.

And now look what he has done. He has people passing in front of my house on Seashore Drive, Buttonwood Bay, steering up and wondering what drove Dean Barrow to write off the house of Nicholas Pollard, Jr.

The truth is the UDP Government wrote off my father’s house, a small bungalow at #16 Thomas Vincent Ramos Street in Belama, Phase 2. Long before that house was considered for a write-off, I had already written to the SSB informing them that the structure was falling apart.

I had a contractor inspect the structure last year and he said that the structure was built with inferior cement mix, and that there were areas that should have had more steel.

In order to pay the mortgage, I had rented out the house, but had to discontinue because of its unsafe condition.

I welcome the write-off of some $24,000, seeing that my brother-in-law had put down $15,000 to start the construction under the St. James Building Society in the early 1990s. It is going to cost at least $10,000 to repair the structure.

I hope this helps to clear up some of the assassination tactics that once again appear in the Senate, like it did in Rome.

Regards,
Nick, Jr.
