BCA takes over Saturday races

SportsBCA takes over Saturday races

The race moseyed along with the usual early attackers? assault until the first wrinkle occurred at Mile 7. Here several riders willed their separation from the main peloton. It was Fred ?Fresh? Usher and John Newport ? BTL Fusion; Ernest ?Dangalang? Thurton and Darnell Barrow ? Guinness Seahawks; Marlon Castillo and his incomparably youthful old-man teammate, Santino ?Chief? Castillo ? Santino?s were away and pressing the pace. They managed to build a 40s advantage on the peloton.

By the time they reached Mile 10 where the first station prize was offered, young Barrow sprang out to capture the prize. The move was well timed because the tactics of Marlon Castillo were not to take any prisoners or luggage on his quest. As soon as the lull occurred just after the sprint; the attack came. His lead allowed him to claim the prize at the prison in unchallenged fashion.

Before Castillo sat up and waited for the peloton at the Boom Bridge on the outward leg, the remaining riders crumbled and were swallowed up by the hungry fury of the peloton. While this was going on, Mateo Cruz ? Santino?s, suffered a puncture at Mile 14. He was assisted by three of his teammates. When the lost time was bridged, only Ernest ?Jawmeighan? Meighan and Giovanni ?Froggie? Leslie, along with Cruz, made it back. The chase was mounted by M&M Engineering.

On the return journey, Fresh Fred claimed the third prize at Boom Bridge. The decisive move came at Mile 14 where the final station prize was given. Domingo Lewis ? M&M Engineering was allowed to escape from the clutches of the peloton. When he claimed the prize he never sat up. He continued to press the pace. At Mile 11, seven others caught up to him, bringing the lead pack to an 8-man strong group. Leroy ?Lyrics? Trapp and Barney Brown ? Total Sports, Gilroy ?Cable? Robinson and Domingo – M&M Engineering, Kenneth Butler ? Guinness Seahawks, Greg Lovell ? BTL Fusion, along with Mateo Cruz and Raymond Hyde of Santino?s, never gave up the lead again.

While the cat and mouse race was on, Lyrics sneaked out to a 20s lead. Because no one was committed to the chase, Lyrics capitalized and smoked them all. His lead had built up to such an advantage that his victory salute allowed him to dismount and walk the last 25 yards. Hyde did his dash and claimed second place over Mateo. Greg Lovell, Kenneth Butler, Domingo Lewis, Barney Brown, Gilroy Robinson, Froggie and Colin Mejia placed from fourth to tenth in that order. The race was completed in 2h?4m?59s, averaging 24.4 mph.
