Belize National U-15 Girls draw 1-1 with Anguilla

SportsBelize National U-15 Girls draw 1-1 with Anguilla

BELIZE CITYAfter losing twice, to Jamaica last Thursday and Costa Rica on Saturday, at the CONCACAF U-15 Girls Championship in the Cayman Islands, the Belize National U-15 Girls football squad made a mark in their final group game on Monday of this week, gaining a 1-1 draw against Anguilla.

Though failing to make the quarterfinal playoffs, the draw against Anguilla secured third place for Belize in the group due to goal difference, since Belize had a (-12) versus (-14) goal difference for Anguilla. Both Belize and Anguilla scored their only goal of the tournament in the match against each other. In other matches, Belize lost 5-0 to Jamaica and 7-0 to Costa Rica; while Anguilla lost 5-0 to Costa Rica and 9-0 to Jamaica.
In the Quarterfinals yesterday, Wednesday, Trinidad blanked Bahamas, 4-0; Canada bombed Costa Rica, 8-1; Honduras clipped the hosts Cayman, 3-2; and Haiti edged Jamaica, 2-1.
The Semifinals of the tournament take place tomorrow, Friday, and feature Trinidad & Tobago vs Canada, and Honduras vs Haiti.
The Third Place and Championship games are scheduled for Sunday.
