Arlen will play opposite Yaya DaCosta Alafia in Whitney Houston’s biopic

Belize-born movie star, Arlen Escarpeta, is this week on the set of his latest gig, a Whitney Houston biopic, I Will Always Love You, in which Escarpeta will play none other than Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown.

The new movie is being directed by Angela Bassett, the actress who is well known for her hit role as Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It and who co-starred with Houston in Waiting to Exhale.

Information published in promotional materials, aimed at getting actresses and actors to participate, indicate that the scenes will be filmed in the Los Angeles area this week, in an attempt to depict Whitney’s life and career, which got off to an extraordinary start with 4 albums between 1985 and 1992, the year she married Brown, also a musician.

Whitney’s performances will be re-enacted by actress and fashion model, Yaya DaCosta Alafia, who appears with Escarpeta in recently released photos of them role-playing as Whitney and Bobby.

Escarpeta, 33, has played a number of Hollywood roles: Nathan in Final Destination, Sam Walker in American Dreams, and Mike in Brotherhood, among several other roles.

Houston, who struggled with substance abuse and a very rocky marriage to Brown, from whom she later divorced, died in February 2012 in Los Angeles. Media reports indicated that she had accidentally drowned face-down in her bathtub of extremely hot water.
