Israel Geovanni Contreras Tun, the 25-year-old charged with killing the young girl, was remanded to prison after he was formally arraigned on the charge of murder on Tuesday, April 18. At the time of her murder, he was on bail, having been charged with carnal knowledge about a month ago, for allegedly having sexual relations with her. Police said that they were summoned to St Joseph Street, Benque Viejo, around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17. Upon arrival, they found a fully clothed young female lying face up behind the building. She had marks around her neck, said police. The girl was identified as Aldana, who resides a stone?s throw away from where she was found. She was taken to the San Ignacio Town Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Tun appeared in the San Ignacio Magistrate?s Court on Tuesday, April 18. He was read his charge and remanded until his next court appearance on Friday, May 19. Tun, a laborer of Church Street, Benque Viejo, had been out on bail, pending the conclusion of the carnal knowledge hearing, when the murder happened. Police say that jealousy may have been the motive for the girl?s murder, but did not give further details.
