Brilliant takes down Excellence ? Landis Wade hits 96!

SportsBrilliant takes down Excellence ? Landis Wade hits 96!

When the two undefeated teams, Excellence of Double Head Cabbage and Brilliant of Crooked Tree, took to the pitch on Saturday, everyone knew one would fall from grace. Excellence, being the most offensive team in the tournament (no pun intended), came well equipped with their whopping stick. Little did they know that Brilliant also intended to do some whopping of their own.

Brilliant defeated Excellence by a score of 183 to 180 runs with five wickets to spare. Excellence threw everything including the kitchen sink, but could not dismiss Landis Wade, who came up four short of a century with 96 runs. Lawrence Banner also took 5 wickets in the victory for Brilliant.

In almost the same scenario, both Berlan and Wicked Eleven won their first match then lost the next two. Just like de-ja-vu, somebody had to win, but at whose expense? In a relatively close but competitive scoring, Wicked Eleven came out on top, defeating Berlan by a score of 128 to 119 runs.

Winston Flowers led Wicked Eleven to victory with 35 runs. Darren Rhaburn took 4 wickets in the process. Berlan were led by Peter Harris, who scored a solid 46 runs in their victory. Orlando Banner made a valiant showing for Berlan by taking 4 wickets in the loss.

Second Division

On Saturday, February 25, Habet & Habet Highway Bombers won their fourth match of the tournament dismissing Die Hard by a score of 156 to 46 runs. Kendis Moody led the way for the Habet & Habet Highway Bombers by scoring 40 runs. Edmond Flowers and Samuel Sukhnandan took 2 wickets each in the victory. Bertie Seguro really made a very good showing for Die Hard by taking a total of six wickets in a losing effort. Die Hard have now lost three in a row and have yet to record their first win.

In the only match played on Sunday, February 26, Saillows defeated Bright Star in what you can call a close but not so close match. The final score was 85 to 83 runs; however, they had five wickets to spare. Lyndon Casasola led the scoring for Saillows with 55 runs while Robert Casasola took 3 wickets in the victory. Saillows have now won one and lost one. Bright Star was led by Norman Pook who scored 38 runs and Edwin Seguro took 4 wickets in the loss. Bright Star have now won one and lost two.
