Catherine Garbutt, dead at 84

GeneralCatherine Garbutt, dead at 84

?Ma Kate? could always be seen enjoying the view and Mother Nature?s breezes as she sat in her yard. She loved both her children and grandchildren dearly. Her specialty was to sit and teach her grandchildren how to count and say their ABC?s. She smiled proudly whenever she listened to them repeat after her, or especially when they learnt how to say in on their own.

Denton told the newspaper that his mother loved traveling and cooking. He added that she was a strong and sweet mother, who was always there for her children. Her strength led her to see four generations, and she had even outlived two of her sons – Michael and Calbert Garbutt.

?Ma Kate? will be laid to rest on Saturday afternoon, May 14, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church on Cemetery Road.

She is survived by her 3 brothers – Uriel Leslie and Keith Johnson, both of the USA, and William Leslie of Belize City; 2 sisters – Ethel Hall of Corozal and Ethel Garbutt of the USA. She is predeceased by her husband, Alpheus Budd. She also leaves behind 10 children – Wellington, Mavis, Marjorie, Zoela, Lynsford, Arthur, Denton, Carol, Wendell, and one stepson – Bill Oriano; 50 grandchildren, 97 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren to mourn her death.

May she rest in peace.
