SportsCity Boys 10 & Under Grassroots Tournament under way

BELIZE CITY, Sat. Feb. 10, 2018– The regular season of the City Boys 10 & Under Grassroots Tournament 2018 started off today, Saturday, February 10, at the Yabra Field.

In the 4 games scheduled for today, FC Elite Jr. blanked St. John Vianney, 5-0; City Boys Jr. won, 3-1, over Poor & Famous; Ladyville Rising Stars got the 3-2 win over Reality Youths; and Sampson Academy won by default (3-0) over Face of Belize.

Player of the Day was Tyler Dominguez of FC Elite Jr., who scored a hat trick (3 goals).

Big Up to Mr. Phillip Marin, FFB Technical Director, who came over to present some game balls for the tournament, donated by the FFB through the Belize District Association.

Upcoming Week 2 schedule:
Saturday, February 17
11:00 a.m. – Face of Belize vs St. John Vianney
12:00 noon – Poor & Famous     vs Reality Youths
1:00 p.m. – City Boys Jr. vs Ladyville Rising Stars
2:00 p.m. – FC Elite Jr. vs Sampson Academy

(Amandala Sports Ed. Note:  Leaton explained that all players on teams get equal playing time, as the emphasis in Grassroots is more on participation than competition. But, as expected, those kids on the field instinctively play to win.)
