Easy Does It did it the easy way

It was a beautiful day at Lords Bank over the weekend. The weather was wonderful for cricket. That’s the main reason we were out there. This game will and has drawn crowds. Everyone wants to see this young team reaching the semifinals and meeting Sunrise, a very strong team that has beaten all its opponents in the regular season and was waiting for either Wicked Eleven or Easy Does it. Wicked Eleven lost, so Easy is here to take them on.

I am of the opinion that many believed that Sunrise could walk over this team very easily. Sunrise, as I’ve mentioned in an earlier article, is made up of many senior and experienced players.

Easy Does It took to bat first. The captain, Kenroy Reynolds, and Warren “Bom Jones” Anthony were open batsmen. They started to display very good ability. The way these two batsmen were performing was astonishing. The score reached 43 runs when Kenroy was given out LBW by a ball bowled by Edison Parks, who had relieved an earlier bowler. Game continues, and at end of the last wicket, Easy Does It had put up a comfortable score, 145 runs.

I could see Sunrise team walking off the field with not too bright a spirit.

After lunch break, Easy Does It took to the field. Now it’s time for rumble. Easy Does It captain took the ball along with his partner. Early in the game, noise was heard as a wicket went down. Shortly after, another one, then another. At the fall of the last wicket, Sunrise could only muster 115.

This has broken Sunrise’ winning streak. Top bowlers for the winner were Kenroy Reynolds and Cyril Banner, Jr., who took 3 wickets each. Best Batsman went to Chris Banner with 24 runs, followed by Mykelt Anthony and Herbert Banner with 19 runs apiece. For Sunrise, top batsmen were Satish with 24 runs and Troy Stephenson with 23. Top bowlers were Edison Parks and Gareth Joseph, who took 3 and 2 wickets, respectively.

Sunrise now travels to Lemonal this Saturday to try and even things up.

At Crooked Tree, the other semifinal game was played. (Brilliant was leading the best-of-3 series, 1-0.) Brilliant took to bat first and scored 102 runs. Excellence then went to bat. According to one of the umpires, at the fall of 8 wickets, Excellence had only 39 runs. The 9th batsman went in and was given an out that wasn’t taken lightly; an argument started, and the game had to be stopped.

The matter has gone to the dispute board for ratification. The dispute committee ruled that the game must be continued where it had stopped.

Till next week, fans. Take it easy, players. Remember, others are watching you all. Please display good sportsmanship. Best of luck to all!
