Dangriga sports stats – Traveller’s Belikin Classic Gold Mayor’s Cup Tournament Week 2

Cycling

The Dangriga Amateur Cycling Association will be hosting its last Sunday in the month monthly race on Sunday, March 30. This race will start (and finish) from in front of Ilagulei Sports Bar at 11:00 a.m. and head all the way to Sittee River junction and back. It’s an Open race for cyclists from all over the country. First prize is $300.00; second $200.00; third $100.00. Registration per rider is only $5.00. Station prizes will be provided going and coming throughout this race. Classic Gold Mayor’s Cup

Week 1 games in the 2014 Classic Gold Mayor’s Cup tournament, sponsored by Traveller’s and Belikin, were played over the weekend at the Carl Ramos Stadium.

In game 1 on Friday night, March 14, Southside won over Riverside Nets, 2-1, with both Southside goals coming from Lennox “Namule” Mejia; while Dave Brackett got Riverside’s only goal. Game 2 saw Alliance FC getting the 2-1 victory over Wagiya. Michael Cho and Hector Gomez scored 1 apiece for Alliance FC, while Wagiya’s only goal came from Brandon “Rasmo” Cacho.

Sunday’s game 1 ended in a nil-nil draw between Benguche FC and Wagierale. Game 2, which was a re-match of last year’s final between Hope Creek Pumas and Conquerors, also ended in a draw, this one 2-2. Edgar and Rollin Burgess got 1 apiece for Hope Creek, while Allen Armstrong and Clifton Ramos scored 1 each for Conquerors.

8:30 p.m. – Hopkins vs Hope Creek Pumas
Sunday, March 23
3:30 p.m. – Wagierale vs Wagiya

This Friday night at Dangriga’s Why-Not-Island at 9:00 p.m., our home team Dangriga Warriors will take on (Smart) No Limit from Belize City. Entrance fee is $5.00; high school students $3.00; kids are free.

Rodwell Ferguson Football Competition

Here are some results from the North Stann Creek Valley Football Association’s Rodwell Ferguson Football Competition.

Week 3 results: In game 1, Valley Rangers won, 4-3, over Pomona Assassins. Pedro Gonzalez had a hat trick (3 goals) and Baldemar Sagastume got the other goal for Rangers; while Amilca, Chris Sanchez and Jeff Ica all got 1 apiece for Assassins. In game 2, Alta Vista High and Alta Vista Scavengers both ended up in a 2-2 tie. Joseph Brooks and Wilson Rodriguez scored for Alta Vista High, while Leonel Garcia scored both goals for the Scavengers. And in game 3, Hope Creek United dropped Mile 21 FC, 4-nil, with a goal each from Gilbert Parham, Rigo Reyes, Jevon Parham and Elliot Tun.

Week 4 results: In game 1, Valley Rangers defeated XYZ, 3-2, with 2 goals from Bryan Gregorio and the other by Brandy Reyes; while Edin Molina and Marlon Lara each hit the target for XYZ. Game 2 saw Valley Stars winning, 4-2, over Valley Pride. Kyle Valerio struck twice, and Ellyz Garcia and Sherwin Lambey got 1 apiece for Valley Stars; while Ricky Tamia hit both goals for Valley Pride. And game 3 between Alta Vista Scavengers and Kings United ended in a nil-nil tie.
