Elizabeth Martinez, 23, stabbed in the chest over a flash drive

GeneralElizabeth Martinez, 23, stabbed in the chest over a flash drive
Sometime after 4 this evening, Elizabeth Olivia Martinez, 23, was allegedly stabbed in front of her home at #6789 Alovera Street by a young woman, a neighbor, who has been detained by police.

The nature of the argument is not fully known at this point, but Amandala was told by bystanders and relatives that the two women didn’t get along very well because of a borrowed flash drive owned by Martinez.

Martinez’s relatives told us that at sometime in the near past, her flash drive was loaned to the other woman (she has not be charged in court as yet) by her (Martinez’s) brother. She had been requesting the return of the said drive, but the woman had not returned it so far, we were told.

As a result, the two women did not particularly get along very well, although they were neighbors.

Today, an argument developed. Allegedly, the women exchanged insulting words on the street corner, which resulted in flared tempers. Martinez, it is alleged, then threw a padlock at the other woman, which caught her purse.

Reports are that soon after, the other woman drew a knife (the type was not specified) and drove it deep into the left side of Martinez’s chest. The relatives told us that the other woman’s common-law husband had to pull her off Martinez, and in doing so, the knife was withdrawn from her chest.

Martinez then ran across to her house, bleeding profusely, where she collapsed from weakness and loss of blood. The police was called, and they immediately responded and took her to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

We understand that up to press time tonight, Martinez is in stable condition and that the doctors have gotten the bleeding under control. She has a 7-year-old son by the name of Jaheed Martinez, who is dependent on her.
