Knox cried while telling the court that he wanted to spend Christmas with his daughter

Gregory Knox, 21, a resident of Leo Bradley Crescent, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison this morning after he was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm upon Ashanti Scott, 24.

According to police, Scott reported that on August 18, 2013, she was walking on Neal Pen Road when she got into an argument with a woman. The woman then left and summoned Knox, who went to Scott’s house and after shouting for Scott, allegedly pulled out what appeared to be a firearm and pointed it at her.

Knox was detained this morning and cried to the court, explaining that this was going to be his first Christmas with his daughter and that he didn’t want to miss it. He also told Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser that he didn’t pull out a gun and point it at Scott.

The Senior Magistrate informed him that while she was sympathetic to his plight, her hands were bound by the law and she could not offer him any bail on the matter.

Knox was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until his next court appearance scheduled for February 4, 2014.
