Heart-broken wife says she didn’t cause husband’s suicide

GeneralHeart-broken wife says she didn’t cause husband’s suicide
The common-law wife of Crescencio Pascual Catzim, the Orange Walk resident who committed suicide on Monday, June 21, 2010, at his work compound, visited Amandala visibly shaken to refute what she says are unjustifiable accusations about her being unfaithful, and that being a contributing factor in her husband’s suicide.

She said that the story in the #2435 publication of the Amandala, dated Wednesday, June 23, 2010, entitled, “Did heart-broken mechanic kill self over unfaithful wife?” reported accusations that it was infidelity on her part that had caused her husband to commit suicide, and that it was untrue.

“We had a relationship for a year and two months,” the wife said.

“I would do anything for him and he would do anything for me. …I love him,” she continued, as she also recollected the memories she had with the step-father of her two children and the love of her life.

“We met about 10 years ago; he was a friend of my aunt. …I used to sell food and he used to always buy for his workers and not himself, so one day I gave him some food and we started to talk.”

Pasqual’s common-law wife explained that she, along with his close friends and family, know the reason for her husband’s, in an act of desperation, ending his life – part of which is his being constantly denied rights to his child.

She explained that her husband had been constantly faced with a plaguing dilemma, which had nothing to do with her.

“I would have never cheated on him. …We had our problems like any normal relationship, but that accusation is totally untrue, and it has caused problems for me amongst my family,” she said.

Pasqual, according to her, had had a change in his personality and demeanor over this past weekend. His common-law wife explained that he had a wife with whom he was going through divorce proceedings, which was scheduled for finalization in the Supreme Court on Friday, June 25, 2010.

The deceased had only one child, which was with his previous wife, whom he loved dearly, and for whom he would have sacrificed anything. But for reasons the family wishes to keep private at this time, this very devoted and exceptional father was broken-hearted, and over the past weekend, the situation weighed heavily on his already burdened mind.

The police reported that Pasqual’s body was found in a pink shed on his work compound around 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010, by his co-worker, Ronald Lemoth, and that he had taken his licensed Stevens Brand 20 gauge shotgun, and in a seated position, put the gun to his face and pulled the trigger.

Pasqual, 35, a mechanic and father of one biological son and two step-children, was discovered holding a bible, and on the ground next to him was a frame which showcased his eight-year-old son’s pictures.

Police today, Thursday, told us that they still don’t know why Pasqual took his own life.
