CrimeHoldup artist, Jason Young, 28, charged with robbery
Jason Young, 28, a construction worker of Lord’s Bank who, police allege, committed two robberies within a half hour of each other, was charged with 2 counts of robbery when he appeared today in the #5 Magistrate’s Court.

Young pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Albert Hoare remanded him into custody until February 20.

The first robbery occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21. The victim, Miguel Mendez, a storekeeper of #58 Marage Road, reported to the police that he was walking on Marage Road on his way home when he was approached by Young, whom he has known for some time. He said Young pointed a black pistol at his abdomen and demanded that he hand over his wallet and his cellular phone.

Mendez said he complied, and Young stole his wallet, which contained $200, and his Kyocera cellular phone.

The second robbery occurred around 10:30 pm. The victim, Herman Ottley, reported to the police that he and the son of his best friend were walking on Marage Road and they had almost reached his house when they were approached by a man with a black pistol in his hand. Ottley said the gunman pointed his pistol at him and demanded that he hand over his wallet.

Ottley said that he gave the gunman his wallet, which contained $2,000, and the gunman walked away and disappeared.

Young was detained by the police the following day.
