GeneralHugh Middleton, 23, charged for 28-year-old Kyne Gentle’s murder

SAN IGNACIO, Cayo District, Thurs. June, 13, 2019– Police investigations into the murder of Kyne Gentle, 28, a driver of Esperanza, Cayo District, led to   the arrest of Hugh Middleton, 23, an unemployed resident of Roaring Creek Village. He has been charged with murder and has been detained at the San Ignacio Police Station pending arraignment for the murder charge at the San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court.

The announcement was made yesterday by police.

Information to us is that on Saturday night, May 19, 2018,  Kyne Gentle was drinking with friends upstairs Blue Angels Club, located on Hudson Street, when at about 12:45 Sunday morning, he went downstairs to buy food from vendors on the sidewalk near the stairs of the club.

The murderer went up to him and shot him in the chest. When Gentle fell to the ground, the murderer reportedly shot him in the head, killing him on the spot.

The shooter then escaped.

Police said that their investigation led to Middleton, who was found in the Riviera area in Belmopan. Middleton and another man were found hiding in a house.

They were then taken to San Ignacio, where Middleton was charged for Kyne’s death. He was later released due to insufficient evidence to hold him, but was rearrested after further investigation led to information that indicated he was the shooter.

ACP Joseph Myvett said that the motive for the murder is unknown.
