Making a slow but gradual presence in Belize, swimming is a sure interest for some. Being out at the Swim Meet on Sunday, July 27, that interest could be seen in the eyes of young onlookers. Unsure of just how to make that interest known, they looked at the participants in wonder.
The 350m distance was used as a warm-up for the swimmers, as the 750m presented its challenge on choppy seas. Of note are two young San Pedranos that took the top two spots. The Unicomer sponsored prizes for juniors went to Jordan Santos with a time of 14:44:99 and Kian Ancona; and the BTL sponsored senior prize was taken by Anthony Leslie in third overall.
Many thanks to the Coast Guard for keeping an eye out, and to Carlos Diaz for keeping us comfortable and in the shade.
The final Swim BTL/Unicomer/LA Fashions meet in preparation for the Lionman competition is scheduled for August 10 with a start time of 9:00 a.m. Preregister with Denise at 621-6910.
