Ladyville resident who claimed he is a doctor remanded for psychiatric evaluation

GeneralLadyville resident who claimed he is a doctor remanded for psychiatric evaluation

BELIZE CITY, Fri. May 25, 2018– The charge for using insulting words is a misdemeanor, but when Keith Staine, 43, a resident of Ladyville, told Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford that he is a cardiologist and a medical practitioner, she immediately had doubts about his sanity.

Staine was accused of calling his neighbor, Myra Castellanos, a wh*re and a b***ch and telling her that he would “deal with her.”

Staine pleaded not guilty to the charge. He said that it was he who was being harassed by Castellanos.

The prosecutor objected to bail being granted to Staine on the grounds that Staine has a mental issue and the charge might be upgraded to attempted suppression of evidence.

Senior Magistrate Ford upheld the objection. She told Staine that she was denying him bail because she believes that he needs psychiatric evaluation. She remanded him into custody until July 16.
