Playoff scramble in Smart 13 & Under Mundialito

SportsPlayoff scramble in Smart 13 & Under Mundialito

BELIZE CITY, Mon. June 20, 2016–At the end of Week 10 games on Saturday at the MCC Grounds, 3 teams have already clinched a spot in the top-4 semifinals of the Smart 13 & Under Mundialito. And with the last week of regular season this coming Saturday, there are a host of possibilities among 4 teams still in contention for the #4 spot in the playoffs. (See standings below.)

In game 1 on Saturday, June 18, Collet Strikers clipped Heights FC, 1-0, with a goal from Chris Maskall.

Game 2 saw Hattieville Riverside Boys bombing Ladyville Rising Stars, 4-0, with Ruben Darius netting 3 and Jaheed Baptist getting the other goal for Hattieville.

Game 3 was a 1-1 draw between playoff contending Young Warriors and winless Face of Belize. Jonah Chebat shook the net for Young Warriors, while Kassem Santos hit the target for Face of Belize.

In game 4, standings leader City Boys dropped Reality Youths, 3-0, with a goal apiece from Rasheed Lord, Cyril Jones and Kayia Requena.

And in game 5, it was Brown Bombers over Ladyville Jaguars, 2-0, with a goal each from Jaylen White and Eldon Byrd.

Week 11, the final week of regular season, sees 4 teams – Carlston FC, Collet Strikers, Ladyville Rising Stars and Young Warriors still in contention for the last playoff spot. City Boys, Brown Bombers and Hattieville Riverside Boys are already qualified to the playoffs.

Two very intriguing match-ups this Saturday will be that between Collet Strikers and Ladyville Rising Stars, who are tied with 13 points each; and the game between Carlston FC and Ladyville Jaguars. The Jaguars are out of playoff contention, but Wataplat’s boys have given some good performances this season, holding both Hattieville Riverside Boys and Young Warriors to nil-nil draws. They won’t be a pushover for Carlston FC. The winner of the Collet Strikers vs Ladyville Rising Stars game will be watching and praying for a Jaguars victory over Carlston FC. Should Carlston win, they automatically gain the 4th playoff spot. Young Warriors’ only chance is if Carlston FC loses, Strikers and Rising Stars draw, and Young Warriors win by a big margin over Heights FC, to gain the goal difference over the others contending for the 4thh playoff spot.

Week 11 schedule at MCC:
Saturday, June 25
10:00 a.m. – Young Warriors vs Heights FC
11:00 a.m. – Hattieville Riverside Boys vs City Boys
12:00 noon – Collet Strikers vs Ladyville Rising Stars
