BELIZE CITY, Mon. June 10, 2019– From the “Round of 16” it is now down to 8 teams remaining in the National Amateur League Championship (NACL) 2019 inter-district tournament, and the 1st leg of the quarterfinals took place this past weekend.
On Saturday evening at the MCC Grounds in Belize City, Sydney “Buck-it” Bradley struck twice (16’ & 75’) to give home standing Caesar Ridge FC the 2-0 win over CJM Strikerz from Independence. A little later on Saturday night, out at the Ambergris Stadium, it was Belize City’s Barrack Road FC with the 5-2 win over Los Catrachos of San Pedro, who led briefly in first half. Shaking the net for Barrack Road were Leocadio Briceno (17’ & 70’), Harold Thompson (21’ & 49’) and Steven “Breds” Baizar (59’ PK); while Los Catrachos got a goal each from Jordi Craft (12’) and Carlos Castillo (45’). And at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, it was Roaring Creek United, 3-2, over GG Sugar Boys FC from Orange Walk. Roaring Creek goals were by Clifborn Neal (48’) and Shemar Engram (62’ & 79’), while Sugar Boys got a goal each from Jose Acevedo (21’) and Agustin R. Mendez (50’).
The other quarterfinal was on Sunday afternoon at People’s Stadium, where home team Progresso FC was held to a 0-0 draw by defending champion Club Atletico from Belmopan.
