ORANGE WALK TOWN, Mon. Jan. 26, 2015–Female football

The Caribbean Rum Female Football Marathon was held at Orange Walk Technical Football Field yesterday, Sunday, January 25. First place went to Caribbean Rum Road Runners, and second was San Antonio.

The Marathon featured players such as Karen Garcia, Vanessa Mai, Sherrian Tracy, Kara Kasling among others. The tournament starts next two weeks. Contact Ladrick “Mad Bull” Sheppard at 671-8902 or Alex Palacio at 667-0331.

“Boxie” Perrera Basketball Memorial

The third annual Rodolfo “Boxie” Perrera Basketball Memorial Marathon took place yesterday, Sunday, January 25, at the Multipurpose Complex. First place was taken by Tuff Enough – San Pedro; second was UB Team; and third was Caye Caulker.

Over-35 Football Triangular

An Over-35 Football Triangular Tournament was held at the Louisiana Football Field on Sunday, January 25, with the following results:

First place – Belmopan Veterans – Big-up to Councillor Amilcar Umana of Belmopan Veterans.

Second place – Belmopan Taxixtas – Big-up to Angel Novelo of TAXIXTAS.

Third place – Riverside Strikers of Orange Walk.

K&N Print Shop U-12

The third place and championship games in the K&N Print Shop U-12 Football Tournament were played on Saturday, January 24, at the Barracks. In the third place match, Elite Promos clipped Belize, 1-0, with a goal from Phillip Rhaburn. And in the championship game, Yo Creek and Real Madrid were tied, 1-1, in regulation. Leonardo Canul shook the net for Yo Creek, while Omar Delgado hit the target for Real Madrid. In the ensuing penalty shootout, Yo Creek prevailed, 3-2, over Real Madrid for the championship. Making good on penalties for Yo Creek were Nigel Novelo, Alden Castillo and Nardo Canul; while Jaheim Augustine and Elton Thompson successfully converted for Real Madrid, who had to settle for second place.

Individual awards were:

MVP – Regular Season – Katie Jones (Elite Promos)

Most Goals – Phillip Rhaburn (Elite Promos)

Most Disciplined Player – Belarmino Esquivel, Jr. (Belize)

Best Goalkeeper – Katie Jones (Elite Promos)

MVP – Finals – Luigi Gonzalez (Yo Creek)
