SportsRural North Football Tournament Finals begin

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. June 11, 2015–Following a two-week break in action, the Belize Rural North Football Tournament 2015 for the Edmond “Clear the Land” Castro Cup 2015 resumed this past Sunday, June 7, in Sandhill Village with game 1 of the U-16 two-game championship series, and the Senior knockout Finals in Group-A and Group-B.

In game 1 of the U-16 championship Finals, Ladyville Rising Stars and Boom Junior Celtics played to a 1-1 draw. Denroy Baptist (29’ PK) put Ladyville in front from the penalty spot, but Gordon Richards, Jr. (68’) got the equalizer for Boom just 2 minutes from the end of regulation.

In the Group-B Senior knockout Final which followed, Lake Rising Stars dropped Kephawn Pawn Shop, 2-1. Tevin Robinson’s (28’ PK) goal gave Lake the lead early. Clinton Gill (57’) equalized the ball game for Kephawn; but then Marshall Nunez, Jr.’s (65’) goal sealed the Lake’s seat in the championship series.
