San Ignacio cop investigated for alleged domestic abuse

CrimeSan Ignacio cop investigated for alleged domestic abuse

The officer, who was allegedly drunk, reportedly slapped his common-law wife

Just last week, we reported that four officers from the San Ignacio Police Formation had been criminally charged for an altercation with a group of youths from Unitedville — one of whom was allegedly beaten and the other shot in the back – and today, charges are pending for another officer from the San Ignacio police who has been accused of assaulting his common-law wife.

According to San Ignacio police, the common-law wife of Police Constable Fermin Choco visited the police station in that municipality sometime after 10:00 this past Tuesday night and reported that while at their residence, Choco arrived home under the influence of alcohol, after which an argument ensued and he slapped her in the face.

Amandala spoke to Inspector Reymundo Reyes, Deputy Officer in Charge of San Ignacio Police, and he told us that Choco is presently on vacation leave; however, he has already been contacted and informed of the report.

Inspector Reyes mentioned that an investigation into the allegation is currently ongoing, after which they may charge PC Choco for the crime of common assault.

Reyes stressed that the matter is being taken seriously, and stated that whenever there is a complaint against any of his officers which is found to be true, and there are sufficient grounds to arrest and charge the accused person, then the person/s will be arrested and charged based on the consent of the Commissioner of Police.
