GeneralSandhill resident Jermaine Rhaburn, 27, killed in hit-and-run accident

SANDHILL, Belize District, Mon. May 28, 2018– Jermaine Rhaburn, 27, a resident of Sandhill, who was a construction worker at E Tech in Belize City, was found lying face down, unconscious, on the road in an area between Miles 1 and 2 on the Old Northern Highway, in Sandhill by someone who was passing by. That person called the police and then a BERT ambulance went to the scene and took Rhaburn to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

However, Rhaburn succumbed to his injuries about midday yesterday. Rhaburn’s family believes that he was knocked down by a vehicle while he was walking home at about 4:00 yesterday morning, Sunday, on the Old Northern Highway, in the village.

During the weekly police press brief held this morning at the Raccoon Street Police Station, ASP Alejandro Cowo said that they believe that he was victim of a hit-and-run accident.

Rhaburn was the father of three children. His common-law wife said that she would like to tell the hit-and-run driver that he has taken away their breadwinner, and that it leaves a hole in their hearts.
