Game 2 in the Belmopan City Council Kids and Youth Cups 2013 semifinal home-and-away series were held over the past weekend, with the Kids Cup semifinals on Saturday, May 18, and the Youth Cup semifinals on Sunday, May 19, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium.

Kids Cup semifinals results

In the first Kids Cup semifinal game on Saturday, May 18, Real Madrid – Mountain View crushed Manchester City – Armenia, 4-0, with 1 goal from Kendale Nunez (37’) and a hat trick (3) from Tahj Reid (42’, 49’ & 51’). (Real Madrid had also won the previous week’s encounter by a 2-1 score, so they are through to the finals.) In the nightcap, it was Barcelona – Site 7 also registering a 4-0 victory over Manchester United – San Martin, with goals from Devin Nunez (12’), Tyzae Carr (15’ & 50’) and Jahlin Pelayo (55’). (In their previous meeting, Barcelona – Site 7 had won, 1-nil, so they are also going to the finals.)

Youth Cup semifinals resutls

On Sunday, May 19, the first Youth Cup semifinal saw Barcelona – Site 7 registering a 3-1 win over Manchester United – San Martin. Tarique Humes (38’), Noah Moro (51’) and Giovanni Gonzalez (65’) shook the net for Barcelona – Site 7, while Jorge Hidalgo (60’) scored for Manchester United – San Martin. (Barcelona – Site 7 had won their previous match by a 2-1 score, so they will advance to the championship finals.) In the nightcap, Valencia – YWAM Roaring Creek dropped Celtic – Las Flores, 5-2, with a goal apiece from Naim Wilson (7’), Jalen Myers (11’), Mario Valencia (14’), Alex Scott (36’) and Ernesto Lauriano (68’). Scoring for Celtic – Las Flores were Jaime Crespo (52’) and Jairo Lopez (75’). (Valencia – YWAM Roaring Creek had also won their semifinal last week by a 1-nil score, so they are also through to the championship finals.)

Finals postponed

The Belmopan Football League wishes to inform all teams, players, parents and fans that both Belmopan City Council Kids and Youth Cups games have been suspended for this weekend. The Belmopan Football League has deemed this suspension necessary, as His Worship Mayor Simeon Lopez will be attending to Official Duties, and his presence at the championship game would be integral to its success.

The first round of the championship will be next Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2. The format for the championship round will be: one game will decide 3rd place; but it will be a two-game series for 1st and 2nd place.

Appearing in round one of the finals next week will be:

Kids Cup Finals
Saturday, June 1
Game 1 – (for 3rd Place) Manchester United – San Martin vs Manchester City – Armenia
Game 2 – (for 1st and 2nd Place) Real Madrid – Mountain View vs Barcelona – Site 7

Youth Cup Finals
Sunday, June 2
Game 1 – (for 3rd Place) Celtic – Las Flores vs Manchester United – San Martin
Game 2 – (for 1st and 2nd Place) Barcelona – Site 7 vs Valencia – YWAM Roaring Creek

Championship weekend
On Saturday, June 8, we will have an all-star team from Orange Walk going up against the all-star team from both the Kids and Youth Cups.

And on Sunday, June 9, it will be the championship games for both the Kids and Youth Cups, followed by entertainment and the awards ceremony.
