Table Tennis – 2017 – 7th Annual 5-Barrel Veteran Championships results!

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 23, 2017–The 2017 – 7th Annual 5-BARREL Veteran Championships took place this past Saturday, October 21, at the Beliaze Elementary School Auditorium.

The tournament started off with the top 8 veteran table tennis players (35 years and over) competing for this title in an 8-Double Elimination Competition format.

Defending champion Zhi Chen could not participate this year, but finalist Tux Vasquez and third place winner Carlos Cui were among the veteran players in this competition.

Carlos Cui made it to the finals in the upper division by defeating Moses Babb, Jorge Espat and Tux Vasquez.
Tux Vasquez made his run to the finals by defeating Manuel Paguaga and Francis Gegg; then, after losing to Carlos Cui, worked his way back to the finals by defeating fellow club member, Moses Babb. Moses Babb placed third as a result, and Vinod Chawla placed fourth.

In the finals, Carlos Cui won over Tux Vasquez, 3 games to 0.

The finals results were as follows: 1st – Carlos Cui; 2nd – Tux Vasquez; 3rd – Moses Babb; 4th – Vinod Chawla.

Travellers Liquors were once again the proud sponsors of this year’s 7th Annual event. (Belize Table Tennis Association) BTTA Director Jorge Espat led the award ceremony and congratulated the Association on a successful event. He then awarded trophies to all winners with the assistance of our coaches, Juana Barbara Machado and Aya Kubota.
