Teenager drowns in Sittee River

GeneralTeenager drowns in Sittee River

The Bowers family of Silk Grass Village is mourning the death of their son, Channon Bowers, 19, who drowned while swimming with his family in the Sittee River near the Kendall Bridge at about 4:30 Friday evening.

Police reports are that Channon went down and failed to resurface. Family members began an immediate search and they found him shortly after, at about 4:50. He was recovered from out of the river and attempts were made to resuscitate him, but he was already dead.

Police said that the death has been ruled as a drowning. The body awaits a post-mortem at the Dangriga Hospital.
