Thomas Logan stabbed to death; assailant allegedly flees over the border to Guatemala

FeaturesThomas Logan stabbed to death; assailant allegedly flees over the border to Guatemala
San Ignacio police visited an area near the Sacred Heart High School at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday of last week. Upon their arrival, they saw a Hispanic man lying on the street side in some bushes, apparently dead.

Initial police investigation revealed the man to be Thomas Logan, a 48-year-old laborer of Santa Elena Town. He was involved in a fight with a man who allegedly inflicted several stab wounds in his back, two wounds in his shoulder blade, one wound in his right rib cage, and one wound in his abdomen.

The man also inflicted a wound to the left side of Logan’s forehead, two wounds to his head and one over his right eye.

Thomas Logan was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body now awaits a post-mortem.

Amandala spoke with Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Wade via phone. He told us that they know who committed the crime. According to him, there were witnesses to the fight and the stabbing, and they are looking for a man by the name of Jesus Lobos, a Belizean from San Ignacio.

The reason that Lobos has not been apprehended as yet, according to Wade, is that it is apparent that Lobos stabbed Logan to death and fled over the border to the Guatemalan side. He said that Belize police are working with the Guatemalan police and other relevant authorities to apprehend him as soon as possible.
