Dear Sir,

I believe that your paper, in recent years, has stood very firm and resolute against the People’s United Party. I would trust you give me a right of reply to a very biased article appearing on the front page of your last issue titled “Bogus PUP convention to elect Fonseca?”

The PUP is at a historic crossroads. Only three times, 1956, 1996 and now 2008 have we moved toward electing a new leader.  This is an internal PUP process. Your article is an insult to our process and our people, including the delegates of the Albert and Lake Independence constituencies. The delegates that will choose the next leader of the PUP will come from across this nation, of all ethnic, religious and other persuasions.

Our next PUP leader will be chosen in a democratic process that is transparent, accountable and firmly rooted in a 57-year tradition. Our next leader will be chosen because he has demonstrated to be 100% loyal to the PUP Party. A man who is 100% PUP, and a servant of the people.

With respect
Yasser Musa
PUP Public Relations Officer

(Ed. NOTE: With due respect, Yasser, the PUP lost the February 7, 2008 General Elections because its leaders were “100% loyal to the PUP party.” 100% loyalty to the party translates to 0% loyalty to the nation. If you think voters don’t know the distinction, check the results of the election – 25-6.)
