PUNTA GORDA, Mon. Dec. 14, 2015–The Concerned Committee for Football kicked-off its seven-a-side New Year’s Competition on Sunday, December 13, with two exciting games. The six teams in the competition are Galaxy Boys, Jah Love, Jah Roots/Estrellas, Jah Youths, Southern Stars and Ray FC.

In the first game, Southern Stars trampled over Galaxy Boys, 12 to nil. Anselmo Choc and Joaquin Ico scored 4 apiece, while Rustico Coc scored 3 and Ramon Coc scored1goal.

In game two, Jah Roots/Estrellas and Jah Youths played to a 7 to 7 draw. Michael Ricketts scored 4 goals, while Matthew Ricketts, Darol Lambey and Ray “Chucuru” Arzu scored 1 goal apiece for Jah Youths. Zidane Hines, Aduan Usher and Tyrell Flores scored 2 goals apiece, while Percival Audinett scored1 goal for Jah Roots/Estrellas. Sheldon Lambey was ejected after getting a second caution.

The third game will be a back match.

The committee will have its first meeting on Tuesday, December 15, at Burkes’ Bar on Front Street, opposite Vance Pharmacy and Store, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Two representatives from each team are encouraged to attend, as important matters related to the competition will be discussed.

Topics to be discussed will be:  Punctuality; Referees; Obscenities; Uniforms; Start of Play; Submission of final roster; Fielding players not on roster; Payment of fines; Schedule; By-laws; Selections: Seven-a-side & eleven-a-side; Female preliminary game.
