Sports1960s football great, Denton “Sharkie” Fairweather passes

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 4, 2021– Our Amandala Sports desk received the sad news on Saturday from Ray Gongora of BRAATA in Miami, Florida, of the passing of one of Belize’s premier footballers of the 1960s era – renowned BEC left wing, Denton “Sharkie” Fairweather. The tall Sharkie, about six feet three inches, was captain of the BEC team that reigned as Belize City football champions in the early 1960s. After migrating to the US, Sharkie made frequent visits to Belize over the years, and according to Pealoff he would often spend some time observing youth games at the Yabra field.

Our sincere condolences to his relatives and friends in Belize and the U.S. Rest In Peace, brother Denton “Sharkie” Fairweather.
