They were attacked because they turned off the music at closing time in the disco

Two deejays who were entertaining partygoers at a disco in Corozal were seriously injured and are being treated at the Northern Regional Hospital, in Orange Walk Town, after they were attacked and stabbed at about 3:15 yesterday morning by a group of eight men when they turned off the music at closing time in the disco, a popular club on 4th Avenue in Corozal.

Adrian Vasquez, 21, of Santa Barbara Street, San Ignacio, Cayo, received stab wounds in the left side of the abdomen, and also got a cut over the right eye, which caused the area around his right eye to swell; and Alex Hernandez, 29, of Sandhill, Belize District, suffered stab wounds in the right upper chest area and the right side of the lower back.

According to information given to Amandala, after the deejays turned off the music at closing time, eight men who were in the club were displeased, and attacked and stabbed the deejays while they were packing their equipment.

Both victims were taken to the Corozal Community Hospital, then later taken for further medical treatment to the Northern Regional Hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.

Police have announced that they are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Jason Matura, aka “Peso”, and one Massam, aka “Hammer,” who they believe can assist with the investigation.
