The 12th Annual Lionman Triathlon (1500 meter swim, 40 kilometer ride, and 10 kilometer run) was held this past Sunday, September 4, in Belize City, starting and ending at the usual venue, the Sandlighters Parade on Princess Margaret Drive.
In the individual categories, top Female finisher was Shalini Zabaneh, 2nd Keyren Tzib, and 3rd Denise Diaz. Only one Junior participated and completed the course, Anthony Leslie. In the Master’s, 1st was Jim Scot, 2nd Mario Sanchez, and 3rd Roy Gillett. And in the Elite Male for the title of Lionman 2011, 19 individuals participated, with Kenroy “Smokes” Gladden taking the top prize, followed in 2nd by Jose Choto, and 3rd David Pollard.
Fourteen teams competed in the Team category. 1st place went to Team Sagitun (Shalini Zabaneh, Brandon Cattouse and Kevin Siroki); 2nd was Team Spectrum Design (Denise Diaz, Wilbert Jones and Louis Haulze); and 3rd Team C-Ray Bad Intentions (Eric Donis, Kaya Cattouse and Kent Gabourel).
