GeneralCop and common-law wife charged with wounding a child, 6

BELIZE CITY, Wed. Dec. 6, 2017-A police constable, Tony Gamboa, 31, and his common-law wife, Aricia Gentle, 23, were separately charged with causing wounds to a 6-year-old female child (Gamboa’s daughter, who is Gentle’s stepchild) when they appeared today before Magistrate Michelle Trapp. Gamboa and Gentle, a sales representative, pleaded not guilty to the charge and were offered bail of $4,000 each, which they met.
The bail was offered on the condition that they do not interfere with the child or any of the prosecution’s witnesses; that they do not go within 100 feet of the little girl; and that they report to the Belize Family Court tomorrow at 9 a.m. in connection with a care order against them for which the Human Services Department has applied.

They are to return to court on February 8. Both incidents of wounding against the child occurred at the couple’s home, located 331 Belizean Set Site in Hattieville. Gamboa is alleged to have wounded the little girl in November, while Gentle allegedly beat the child and caused a wound to her on December 3.
It has been reported that authorities at the child’s school detected the wounds and subsequently informed the police.
