Victor Galvez Stadium, SAN IGNACIO TOWN, Mon. Dec. 5, 2016–On Friday night, in game 1, Belmopan Shock (#2) defeated Lady Warriors (#3), 49-16, in the Female division. With the win, Belmopan Shock has advanced to the championship game, and will face their rivals, Benque Queens, in a rematch of last year’s finals. Belmopan Shock was led by Kaylani Reid, who netted 13 pts, and Jada Brown and Enid Dakers, who tallied 10 pts each. Shanice Mendez and Glenda Torres were the top scorers for Lady Warriors with 5 pts each. In game 2, the Under 23 division was a nail-biter, as Belmopan narrowly edged McRoe Lions, 62-60. Akeem Watters had the game winning field goal with 0.5 seconds remaining, while finishing the night with 19 pts. Brandon Flowers had the game high with 20 pts, and Karl Williams sank 18 pts. Jamaal Augustine was the top scorer for McRoe Lions with 17 pts, and Francis Arana netted 16 pts. In the nightcap, Police Stars (#2B) faced off with Tuff Enuff (#3B) for the third time this season, splitting the regular season match-up, 1-1. Tuff Enuff was able to secure the close victory, 69-67, sending them to the semi-final round in the Senior division, to face off with Maraton Mambas (#1A). Raul Roches was the top scorer for Tuff Enuff with 23 pts, while Kurt “Chengo” Burgess tallied 9 pts. Police Stars was led by Andre Almendarez with 19 pts, Sheldon Williams with 17 pts, and William Black with 10 pts.

On Saturday night, Kings (#2) secured their spot in the Under 19 finals, as they defeated Belmopan (#3), 71-45. Kings was led by Kareem “Pulu” Cardinez, who scored the game high 17 pts, while Justin Ford netted 15 pts, Ryan “Mentes” Carbajal tallied 12 pts, and Chase Burkey finished the game with 10 pts. Gerian Hernandez was the top scorer for Belmopan with 11 pts, and Eyon Anderson sank 9 pts. In the nightcap, Sacred Heart Junior College (SHJC) Scorpions (#2A) defeated Belmopan Wolves (#3A) by the score of 53-45, in the Senior division. SHJC Scorpions was led by Jamie Carbajal, who had the game high with 18 pts, while Antwan McFadzean netted 13 pts, and Jarrett Davis scored 10 pts. Mark “Diesel” Wagner was the high man for Belmopan Wolves with 12 pts, while Christian Rodriguez finished the night with 9 pts. With the win, SHJC Scorpions will advance to the semi-final round against the only undefeated team in the Senior division, Panthers (#1B).

The remaining semi-final games will be played this weekend. The finals will be played the following weekend, starting Friday, December 16, and it will use a one-game elimination format.
