BELMOPAN, Mon. Aug. 15, 2016–The 19th National Belikin 8-Ball Tournament commenced in June at the district level, and will finish with a bang, or like a slice of cake, on August 20 & 21 in Sugar City at the Civic Center by the People’s Stadium, with champions from north, south, east and west, to see who is the best on the billiards table.

From the north, we will see Miramar of Corozal and Hi5 of Orange Walk; from down south, it will be Anaconda of Toledo, and SFB from Steadfast Village, Stann Creek; from the west, it’s CK Shooters of San Ignacio, and Las Flores of Belmopan; and from the east, it will be Long Island of Belize City, and One Shot One Kill of the beautiful island of San Pedro, who is participating for the first time.

Last year, it was Miramar who was crowned the champs in Corozal, after defeating Elements of Belize City; but it’s hard to predict who will take it this year. Elements is not in this time, but most of their sharpshooters are on Long Island team; while Miramar is ready to defend their title with some superb players.

Anaconda and Las Flores went home early last year, but Anaconda is ready to bite, and Las Flores is ready to blossom. Hi5 ranked 3rd last year, but let’s see if their home table will give them an advantage, so their fans can do real “high-fives.” The team named CK Shooters of San Ignacio is representing for the first time, but they have players who have won championships before, and are always ready to rumble. Steadfast is also coming for the first time, but they must be hot, coming from close to where Marie Sharp pepper sauce is made; and San Pedro must be sailing, and coming to rock the boat.

It’s going to be truly breath-taking to watch these players on the biggest stage that happens once a year. Come out and see the games, as some players get their victory and make history. It’ time to stop the talking and start chalking, so players can’t miss and blame the cue, because it’s not the cue; it’s you! Always remember, one miss can lead to being dismissed.
