David?s father, a former policeman, said, however, that it was he who did the investigative work. The body of Pook, a part-time worker and student of the University of the West Indies, was discovered a couple yards behind Bingo King, an apartment complex located at #15 Fabers Road Extension. The family, who had reported him missing, had to immediately bury Pook?s remains after an on-site post-mortem was conducted. They placed him in a casket and hurried off to the Lord Ridge Cemetery for a quick burial. David had sustained several stab wounds and had been tortured. David?s father, Rezino Pook, said that David had two 5-6 inch stab wounds in the palms of both hands. It seemed as if though the killer/killers stabbed his two knees and stabbed him several times in the leg. Rezino said that there were two stab wounds to the neck, one going a couple inches deep. David?s chest also bore several large slices that looked like chop wounds. Also, the bottom of his feet looked as if though they had been diced. Rezino, a former member of the Police Department, from his home at #6609 C Police Street, said that he was not happy that he had not been acknowledged, because he was the one that did all the investigation, and that without his information, he said, the police would never have been able to make an arrest, or even get a break in the case, for that matter. Police allege that four men, Clarence Grant, Ronnel Gonzalez, Edward Henry and another man known only as Howard, murdered David over a girl that Gonzalez had, who later had a relationship with David. David and Gonzalez had reportedly had a dispute before his death. This morning, Clarence Grant, who is the only one of the four men caught and formally charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder, appeared in the Belize Magistrate?s Court, and was remanded to Hattieville Prison until he is to reappear in court. Since Grant?s arrest, police have only issued warrants for Ronnel Gonzalez and Edward Henry, saying that they could not issue a third, because they do not have the proper identification for the fourth man accused, only knowing him by the name ?Howard.? Gonzalez has reportedly left the country. A death certificate certified that David Pook died at 3:30 on Saturday morning, August 26. According to Rezino, last Friday, August 25, his son had left home sometime around 4:30 p.m., and had not been seen nor heard from since. Adelita, David?s mother, said that she and Rezino were concerned for their son?s safety because that Friday morning, her son received a text message that read, ?Di first time the gun snap, ih noh wah happen again,? and the second, which came a couple minutes later, read, ?Dis da yu las day fu live.? The Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) refused to begin a search because it had not yet been 48 hours since David had gone missing, said Rezino, but the Family Violence Unit did not turn him away. He said that there, he was given assistance and a search was started. That is where they were able to gather the first set of information, as Princess Hotel personnel assisted them by checking whether his son had checked into the hotel by chance. They continued on their own, searching the highways. It was not until two days later that they received the news that his son?s body had been found. ?If only the police had acted sooner, maybe the death could not have been prevented, but he would not have been that badly decomposed, and maybe the accused would not have fled the country,? said Rezino sadly. Rezino said that he had first met the young lady, Nazima Reyes, whom his son had allegedly been murdered over, in April of this year. He said that David brought Nazima home, and he and his wife asked if she was David?s girlfriend. He said that they both said that they were only friends. About a month ago, however, Ronnel Gonzalez?s father came to Adelita?s home and told her to tell her son to leave his daughter-in-law alone, Adelita said. She knows that Nazima left for Las Vegas in June, and she also knows that David and her split up before she left. They still kept in touch by e-mail, she added. She cannot believe that this would have caused the death of her son, Adelita said. Rezino said there would be a memorial service for David on September 17, at the St. Ignatius Parish, and there would be a small gathering at the family?s residence after, he said, and all of David?s friends are invited to join in celebrating his life.
