The undefeated Gwen Lizarraga High School girls are leading the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) basketball competition with 5 wins, while the Wesley College girls enjoyed their 3rd win at the Swift Hall in Belize City on Wednesday, November 27.

The Gwen Liz girls cruised to their first win, 21-11, over the St. Catherine girls on November 5, led by Primilee Hope’s 13 pts, and Lakeisha Requeña and Kenya Gabourel who scored 4 pts each. SCA’s Zaria Tench scored 6 pts. Hope scored 7 pts in the Gwen Liz girls 2nd win, 11-9, over Wesley College on November 7. Jeannie Staine led Wesley with 3 pts, and Kailee Godfrey and Clayian Swazo each tossed in a bucket. Hope scored 6 pts in the Gwen Liz girls 3rd win, 12-5, over Pallotti. Requeña added 4 pts for Gwen Liz. Pallotti’s Kalyanna Gillett and Neylanie Noralez threw in a bucket apiece.

Hope scored 10 pts in Gwen Liz’s 4th win, 5-3, over the Anglican Cathedral College (ACC) girls last Saturday morning, November 23. ACC’s Shnyah Goff threw in a bucket for ACC. Hope scored 4 pts in their 5th win, 14-7, over the Edward P. Yorke girls on Tuesday, November 26. E.P. Yorke’s Jeniyah Welch scored 4 pts, and Janika Benjamin added 3 pts.

The Wesley girls enjoyed their first win, 22-5, over ACC on Monday, November 11, led by Clayian Swazo’s 9 pts. Staine scored 6 pts, and Godfrey added 4 pts. ACC’s Linel Gomez and Shnyah Goff tossed in a bucket apiece. Godfrey and Cedella Lanza scored 6 pts each in Wesley’s 2nd win on November 14, 16-1, over Pallotti. Lanza scored 7 pts to lead Wesley to a 15-3 win over SCA on Wednesday. Swazo added 4 pts, and Godfrey and Amayah Nuñez each threw in a bucket.

The Pallotti girls enjoyed their 1st win, 10-9, over the ACC girls on November 6, as Kalyana Gillett and Neylanie Noralez each scored 4 pts. ACC’s Shnyah Goff scored 5 pts. Pallotti enjoyed their 2nd win, 4-0, over SCA last Friday, November 22, as Rhea Ferguson and Javahe McFadzean each scored a basket.

The E.P. Yorke girls enjoyed their first win, 12-6, over SCA on November 13, led by Jeniyah Welch’s 8 pts. SCA’s Akeelah Tillett scored 6 pts. E.P. Yorke enjoyed their 2nd win, 19-5, over winless ACC last Thursday, November 21, as Welch and Janika Benjamin scored 8 pts each. ACC’s Kashanta Hardiman scored 5 pts.

The St. Catherine girls enjoyed their first win, 16-9, over ACC on Monday, November 25, led by Akeelah Middleton’s 6 pts. Kaelie Burgess shot 5 pts and Akeelah Tillett threw in a bucket. Shnyah Goff scored all 9 pts for ACC.

Thursday’s final game of the regular season between Pallotti and E.P. Yorke will determine the seeding for next week’s playoffs.
