Late this evening grieving Port Loyolans returning from the funeral of young Feron Felix, 16, who was cruelly murdered on Friday night, November 30, vented their anguish upon a cement fence they believe has been a plague on their community for over a decade. The killers of Feron Felix, it is believed, hid behind the cement fence and waited for their opportunity to murder the young man.
An eyewitness on the scene told Amandala that a crowd more than 200 strong, including men, women and children, assaulted the 7-foot high fence, situated at the corner of Fabers Road and Central American Boulevard, with mauls, and broke it down.
Many Port Loyolans had been calling for the dismantling of the fence for a long time. It must have been built with the intent to protect, but evil minds had turned it to wicked purpose. Young Feron is not the first youth believed to have been murdered by men hiding behind that fence. And many others, citizens of the area say, had been shot, or shot at by men hiding behind that cold stone wall.
5:30 this evening, after the emotional funeral of Feron Felix, it all spilled over.
