Augustine said that their initial investigation has revealed that sometime after 11:00 a.m. the three robbers entered the Alliance Bank and held up the tellers and the banks? two security guards. They were able to escape with an undisclosed amount of cash, a portion of which was later recovered by police. The men quickly escaped in a small taxi that was parked outside the bank, and headed south towards the ?coastal road,? said Augustine. (The ?coastal road? begins on the Hummingbird Highway just south of Pomona, then heads east to Mullins River, then north to Gales Point Manatee, then west to La Democracia on the Western Highway.) The men were pursued by police, said Augustine. They abandoned the getaway vehicle and ran into the bush, where police were able to capture one of the robbers. Inside the taxi, police said they found the driver, Carlos Quintero, who had been tied up. He had been shot to death. Police are presently still searching the coastal road for the two other robbery suspects. The identity of the captured robber has not been revealed, but Augustine says he is from Belize City. A reliable source told Amandala that Quintero is originally from El Salvador, but was residing in the village of Sarawee, located at about Mile 4 on the Stann Creek Valley Road, outside of Dangriga Town. He is believed to have family living in the village of Bella Vista, Stann Creek District.
