GeneralArmed robbers wait for man near his home after bank withdrawal; seize $15,000

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Aug. 20, 2018– A broad daylight robbery occurred today sometime before 1:30 p.m., and the robbers got away with a whopping $15,000.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, retired Belizean Harold Williams, age unknown, was driving into his yard at the corner of Dunn and Landivar Streets when three men approached his vehicle. One of the men, who had a firearm, hit the window of the car, shattering the glass.

He then pointed his gun at Williams and demanded that he hand over an envelope that contained money. Apparently, Williams had just been to Scotia Bank on the Philip Goldson Highway to withdraw the money before going home.

The three men, whose identities are unknown to police, were waiting for Williams to return home in order to rob him. They escaped in another vehicle that apparently had been waiting for them.
