BELIZE CITY, Belize, Fri. Apr. 16, 2021– Over two hundred Belizeans with disabilities will have access to equipment that will improve their quality of life following a joint donation by the Justice of the Peace Association of Belize in partnership with the Justice of the Peace Chapter of Los Angeles.

Thus far, the association has raised over four thousand dollars to be used to boost accessibility for persons living with disabilities. The equipment will include wheelchairs, push-walkers and crutches, among other items. In addition, the association is scheduling a turkey dinner sale to raise funds for shipping costs.

In an interview with Love News, the president of the Justice of the Peace Association, Mr. Adrian “Danny” Madrid, said, “We’re working closely with the Attorney General’s Ministry. We have started to bring in items for people that we know need them, like wheelchairs, walkers, medical equipment and so forth. And this week we’ll be giving out these things to the needy, to people through the JP Association and JPs.”

Madrid says the role of a Justice of the Peace extends beyond signing documents. JPs should render assistance to those in need. He said, “Our motto is not only to sign documents but to help people, and we have found a way that Belizeans who are crippled, and the necessity for wheelchairs and walkers; there is a demand for it, so that’s the reason why we’re working on that.”
