Belize really needs an energy policy

LettersBelize really needs an energy policy

Dear Editor,

I think Belize is very much in need of an energy policy, especially now that we are exporting petroleum.

The policy should begin with our electrical power supply. How can a sovereign country be depending on another country for more than half of its electrical power supply? We have a nice big garbage dump by the George Price Highway, which can be used to supplement the butane/propane from BNE to burn to generate electrical power.

There are other ventures for solar, wind and possibly more hydro power, and GOB can give more incentives to bring in small and more efficient vehicles into the country

Signed,
