Belmopan CitCo starts clean-up campaign

HighlightsBelmopan CitCo starts clean-up campaign

BELMOPAN, Fri. Nov. 12, 2021 — The Belmopan City Council, alongside the Belize Mayors Association, will be commencing a clean-up campaign on November 13, 2021. Cleaning efforts will start in the Central Site area, Site 7, and University Heights in the City of Belmopan.

The Belmopan CitCo will also be reminding the public through a public relations campaign that anyone who is caught placing garbage on any street, thoroughfare, alleyway or public space that is not a designated space for dumping garbage is committing a littering offense and can be subjected to a fine.

To prevent such offenses, the Belmopan City Council will, from December 1, 2021, be offering its services to assist with debris pickup. Interested residents can contact either a private service provider or the City Council, which will be charging a fee of $50 per pickup on areas measuring four cubic yards or less and $150 for areas that exceed four cubic yards in size. Bagged green or biodegradable waste will be collected free of charge.

The Belmopan City Council reminds the public to refrain from littering. Garbage maintenance is an integral part of the beautification of the City of Belmopan.
