Big-Up our CODICADER Gold medalists!

SportsBig-Up our CODICADER Gold medalists!

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Sept. 13, 2012

A delegation of high school players and coaching staff from our CODICADER Gold medal basketball and softball teams made an appearance on the Krem WUB this morning. Ladyville Technical High School represented Belize in female softball, while Sadie Vernon Technical High carried our flag in male basketball. Unfortunately, not all the team members could be present, but our Amandala sports desk couldn’t resist the opportunity to beg a snap of those present. Congratulations to all team members!!

Our St. Catherine Academy volleyball team also achieved a significant milestone this year, their first medal in the Games – a Bronze, along with an individual Gold medal for Best Spiker in the tournament which went to Sherika Burton.

On the Gold Medal basketball team, Brian White received two Gold medals, one for Most Points and the other for Most Rebounds in the tournament. And from our Gold Medal softballers, pitcher Ashley Lucas won the Gold for Most Wins (3-0), and Sabrina Campos got the Gold for Best Batting Average (.625).

In upcoming events, football and athletics will be held in El Salvador. Belize will be represented in football by Stann Creek Ecumenical College males from September 18 – 28; while the National Selection of high school athletes will represent the Jewel in Track & Field from September 25 – 28.

Baseball will be held in Panama, and San Pedro High School will represent Belize on October 10.
