BELIZE CITY–A Biscayne resident was arraigned on two counts of sexual assault upon a 7-year-old girl and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison this afternoon, after the court prosecutor objected to granting him bail on the ground that he might interfere with the virtual complainant or other prosecution witnesses.
Randy Dion Dominguez, 24, a boat attendant, pleaded not guilty when Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith read the two charges of sexual assault to him.
Smith upheld an objection to bail from the court prosecutor, Corporal Noel Muschamp, and remanded Dominguez to prison until his next court appearance on February 4, 2015.
Dominguez is accused of fondling the minor on two different occasions. The first incident occurred on June 7, 2014.
The child reported to police that she was left at Dominguez’s house with a relative and that was when he touched her inappropriately.
Then in November 2014, Dominguez again touched the minor on her private parts.
Sexual offenses carry a minimum penalty of three years in prison.
