Yesterday, Tuesday, police were given a tip about the precise location of an unidentified body in the Hattieville area.
On Tuesday, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Hattieville police searched the “Rifle Club” shooting range property, located approximately Mile 19 on the Western Highway, where they discovered the decomposed body of a man, Glenford Smith, 38, who had been missing for a little over two months, since December 28, 2009.
The press officer told Amandala that the sister of the deceased, Valarie McKay, who was also on the scene at the time of the discovery, identified the items found on the corpse to be that of her brother, Smith.
Smith’s family congregated at the site. They were very emotional and expressed content in the closure that the discovery of their loved one’s body brought to the family. However, the questions still remain – who murdered Smith? And why?
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the post-mortem was conducted on the scene of the shooting range, where it was revealed that Smith died from a head injury caused by a sharp (unknown) object.
