BPFL and ?A? League franchises talk unity!

SportsBPFL and ?A? League franchises talk unity!

For the teams in arrears, July 15, 2005 was the deadline to meet. But it has been reported that Belize City?s Kulture Yabra and the Bulls of Calcutta did not make the deadline. Six teams – Cayo Avengers, Sagitun, San Pedro Seahawks, Krem Lake, Juventus and New Site Erei of Dangriga have been confirmed as eligible to participate in the upcoming season.

Five clubs from the FFB?s ?A? League – Wagiya, Verdes, Pirates, Eagles, and BOCA have reportedly been talking to the BPFL to join them in the ?A? League since that is the league that has a better opportunity of going to represent Belize at CONCACAF games. Reportedly the ?A? League five suggested to the BPFL to change their name and form a whole new league outside of the ?A? Tournament and outside of the BPFL.

According to our sources, representatives from Wagiya, Verdes and BOCA were present and did participate in a meeting held last Saturday, July 23rd,and hinted that they may consider making the switch to the BPFL, a move that the BPFL said they would welcome with open arms. Sources within the league have said that all benefits and or privileges afforded to franchises within the BPFL would be extended to the newcomers if any team would make the switch.

In talking to an executive member of the BPFL who wishes to remain anonymous at this time, he said, ?CONCACAF representation is an issue, but there are so many other important issues that need to be discussed besides being allowed to represent Belize at CONCACAF. Even if the FFB would grant us representation on the international level and the development of football remains the same, then we will still have issues.?
